Seminary President Weighs in on the Alcohol Issue

On an issue like this it is a tragedy that there is such confusion and malice in much of the discussion. In this article, Dr. Akin articulates the position held by most Southern Baptists’ with both clarity and charity. While it may be true that a couple of us are biased when it comes to this man, I hope that you will find that I have not overstated the helpfulness of this article to the discussion.

  1. Thanks for the heads up!

  2. Before learning of this site, I wrote my response to Dr. Akin's article. If you are interested, you can find it at http://www.alethes.wordpress.com.

Not to belabor the issue, but what do you mean by "confusion" and "malice"? Do you mean that those who disagree with your position are 'confused' about the Biblical mandate to abstain from alcohol? Do you mean those who are arguing against abstinence are malicious towards those who disagree with them? I'm not trying to 'call you out'; I really don't understand what you are meaning. You are right, though, by noting the charity of his argument. It was one of the few things I found worthwhile in his article.

  3. One more question: Do you believe there is confusion and malice from those who argue for abstinance?
